Customization
Pick the right image, set up access, and know what's still on the roadmap.
Choose a base image
The instance form shows three working base images:
- ubuntu-cpu — Ubuntu 26.04 for CPU-only work.
- ubuntu-gpu — Ubuntu 26.04 with CUDA 12.8 drivers already installed.
- ubuntu-torch — Ubuntu 26.04 with PyTorch 2.8 and CUDA 12.8 preloaded.
Pick ubuntu-gpu whenever the workload needs the GPU. Once the instance is active, head to Connect and Verify.
Configure access
Set a username and password, add SSH public keys, or use both. A detail worth knowing: the public key is injected straight into the VM, so you only ever add the public key and keep its private twin on your own machine.
What's not available yet
Custom images, bootstrap scripts, private networking, Remote VNC, and Windows images aren't on the menu today — they're noted for the roadmap. If you have a specific need, Support is the fastest way to hear what's coming.
